High Performance Tip: Dryer Vent Cleaning
One of the Home Maintenance items that we and our customers often forget is the regular cleaning of our dryer vent that will prevent fires. The National Fire Protection Agency facts about Dryer Vent Fires includes:
“In 2010, an estimated 16,800 reported U.S. non-confined or confined home structure fires involving clothes dryers or washing machines resulted in 51 civilian deaths, 380 civilian injuries and $236 million in direct property damage.”
I recently had J. A. Smith Heating and Air Conditioning out to my home for my Seasonal Air Conditioning Inspection. While his service technician was there I requested that he clean my dryer vent. When completed he had almost two plastic grocery bags full of lint. I obviously waited way too long to have this serviced performed. Have your dryer vent inspected and cleaned on a regular basis for your safety!
